At the Sussex AGM, two important motions were proposed and voted on by the branch. We are pleased to report that both motions passed with overwhelming support from members. This is a clear reflection of our collective commitment to equity, solidarity and the protection of staff rights at the University of Sussex.
1. Adoption of Equitable Paternity Leave Policy at the University of Sussex
This motion calls on the University to adopt a fair and inclusive paternity leave policy that reflects best practice and supports all parents in their roles as caregivers.
Voting outcome:
- Yes: 97.4%
- No: 0.9%
- Abstain: 1.7%
2. Branch solidarity with MAH members in relation to the ongoing Education and Recovery Programme and restructuring
This motion expresses our full solidarity with colleagues in the School of Media, Arts and Humanities (MAH), who are facing serious concerns around restructuring processes and the ongoing implementation of the Education and Recovery Programme. As a branch, we stand firmly with MAH members and will continue to support them in resisting any unfair or harmful changes.

- Yes: 94.9%
- No: 1.7%
- Abstain: 3.4%
