About UCU

The University and College Union (UCU) is the UK’s largest trade union for people working in universities, colleges, prisons and adult education. It represents more than 120,000 members across the UK, campaigning nationally on issues including pay, pensions, workload, equality, academic freedom and secure employment, while providing individual members with advice, representation and legal support when they need it.

At its heart, UCU is built on collective action. By bringing staff together, members have a stronger voice in shaping their workplaces and protecting the quality of education, research and public services.

About Sussex UCU

Sussex UCU is the recognised trade union for academic and academic-related staff at the University of Sussex. The branch is led by elected members who work with colleagues across the University to support staff, negotiate with management and campaign for fair pay, secure employment, manageable workloads and a thriving public university.

The branch also plays an active role in the wider Sussex community, working alongside students, other campus trade unions and local organisations on issues affecting higher education and social justice. Whether you need advice on a workplace issue, want to get involved in campaigning, or simply want to support colleagues, Sussex UCU welcomes new members.
